Hit the road

This collection of photos taken in 1979 by Robin Morrison (1944–1993), captures a glimpse in time of South Island’s history, including Fred Flutey in his paua shell living room. The first (and only) print run in 1981 sold out, and since then, the only way you could get a copy was to scour second-hand bookstores or pilfer it from a mate’s bookshelf. Thankfully, you can now buy this beautiful pictorial record from all good bookstores or from our friends at Massey University Press.
The Auckland War Memorial Museum is also hosting the exhibition “Road Trip”, which features many of Morrison's photographs from the book. More details on that here.
